RESOLUTION OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AS PART OF THE COMMUNITY CONNECTIVITY GRANT PROGRAM AND ACQUIRE PROPERTY INTERESTS REQUIRED FOR THE EXECUTION OF THE WINTERGREEN AREA PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT.

WHEREAS: the Connecticut Department of Transportation has offered a grant to the City of New Haven to connect a portion of the Wintergreen Avenue area to the City’s sidewalk network;
WHEREAS: sidewalk connectivity is a basic transportation necessity;
WHEREAS: the project is funded 100% by grant funds which will be administered by the City of New Haven’s Department of Engineering subject to reimbursement;
WHEREAS: the project will connect multiple housing developments and schools to the City’s larger
sidewalk network; and
WHEREAS: the students and residents of the area have advocated for improved pedestrian facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that the Mayor is authorized to accept funding from the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CT
DOT) and sign any associated state agreements, agreements with contractors, and other documents, any of which may include indemnification provisions and which may have a term of longer than one year, and that the Mayor deems desirable or necessary, including any subsequent amendments to agreements regarding the development and implementation of the Wintergreen Area Pedestrian Improvements Project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that the Mayor is authorized to acquire real property at the corner of Wintergreen Avenue and Springside Avenue to further the implementation of the Wintergreen Area Pedestrian Improvements Area Project.
