ORDINANCE AMENDMENT AMENDING OR-2022-0015 THE 30-WARD BOARD OF ALDERS REDISTRICTING PLAN AND 2 DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION REDISTRICTING PLAN FOR THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN BY AMENDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE FROM JANUARY 1, 2024 TO AUGUST 7, 2023

WHEREAS: the Board of Alders adopted the plan of 30 Ward Board of Alders redistricting plan and 2 District Board of Education Redistricting Plan in May 2022; and
WHEREAS: subsequently it has become clear through many means and conversations with the Registrars of Voters the best effective date would be August 7, 2023; and
WHEREAS: the new wards and districts do not go into effect until the effective date so this Ordinance Amendment addresses the issue of making the effective date coincide with the upcoming election cycle; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED THAT the 2022 30 Ward Board of Alder plan of ward redistricting and Board of Education 2 District Redistricting Plan be and hereby is amended to by changing the effective date to August 7, 2023.
