BODY
WHEREAS, the New Haven Health Department recognizes the importance of increasing providing New Haven's residents with services for opioid use disorder;

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven will apply for funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); and upon receipt of such grant, the City will accept said grant in its entirety;

WHEREAS, with this funding the City of New Haven Health Department will work to decrease stigma surrounding opioid use disorder, increase the number of medical providers who offer medication assisted treatment, connect individuals with substance use disorders and mental health needs to treatment, and develop data sharing systems between the health department and first responders;

WHEREAS, the Overdose Data to Action: Limiting Overdose Through Collaborative Actions in Localities (OD2A: Local) grant is only available to local health departments, local health districts, and special district health departments and because grant awards are intended for populations sizes of > 800,000, the City of New Haven Health Department intends to subcontract with the Waterbury Health Department, East Shore Health Department, Quinnipiac Valley Health District, Naugatuck Valley Health District, and the Milford Health Department;
