RESOLUTION OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (DECD) UNDER THE CONNECTICUT COMMUNITIES CHALLENGE GRANT FOR THE STATE STREET CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS.

WHEREAS: the State of Connecticut through its Office of Economic and Community Development (DECD) has made funding available to distressed communities in an effort to improve livability, vibrancy, convenience and equity throughout the State; and
WHEREAS: State Street in downtown will be designed by the City of New Haven to realign the roadway to unlock the redevelopment potential of several parking lots for transit-orientated development/mixed use development; and
WHEREAS: the City of New Haven through its Economic Development Administration and Departments of Engineering and Transportation, Traffic and Parking, will collaborate with the community at large for said improvements; and
WHEREAS: the proposed realignment of State St will increase safety for all users of the roadway; and
WHEREAS: the City of New Haven's Capital Bonds will be utilized match to the Community Challenge Grant; and
WHEREAS: New Haven Residents, especially the surrounding downtown area will benefit from the improvements to the State Street Corridor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Alders hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City of New Haven to apply for, execute, acknowledge, implement, and deliver any and all documents as may be considered necessary or appropriate for the Connecticut Communities Challenge grant; which documents may have terms in excess of one year and may include indemnifications of the State of Connecticut and/or any state agencies involved in the funding, to the extent necessary to obtain the same; and
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Mayor may enter into such subsequent agreements with the State or other entities in a manner consistent with the Connecticut Communiti...
