TITLE
ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS CONCERNING THE STRUCTURE, RESPONSIBILITIES AND BYLAWS OF COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT TEAMS IN THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN.
BODY
WHEREAS: the Community Management Teams were organized in the 1990s as a part of a developing philosophy to partner and promote community engagement with the New Haven Police Department; and
WHEREAS: Community Management Teams are intended to be community-based organizations to address quality of life issues, crime reduction and youth engagement within the police districts in coordination with appropriate police district managers; and
WHEREAS: the Community Management Teams have grown from a unified citywide effort of addressing community concern;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED that the Board of Alders recommends that the Community Management Teams form a citywide steering committee consisting of at least one member of each CMT to arrange for structured training in such subject matter as the steering committee deems appropriate, that the steering committee develop uniform bylaws for all CMTs that provide for the election of officers, the taking of minutes of meetings and that the meeting be conducted pursuant to Roberts Rules of Order.
