TITLE

ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN APPROVING A LONG-TERM LEASE WITH THE CORNELL SCOTT HILL HEALTH CORPORATION AT THE Q HOUSE, 197 DIXWELL AVENUE

 

BODY

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven (“City”) is the owner of the Dixwell Community Center

(“Q House”) located at 197 Dixwell Avenue; and

 

WHEREAS, the Q House was built in 1924 and has deep roots in the Dixwell Community becoming a base for neighborhood groups, charities and other civic organizations; and

 

WHEREAS, through the leadership of the Q House Advisory Committee and many project stakeholders, a newly constructed Q House is set to open later this year; and

 

WHEREAS, the planning and design of the Q House includes space for the Cornell Scott Hill Health Center (“Hill Health Center”) to relocate from its present location in the Dixwell neighborhood to the Q House; and

 

WHEREAS, Hill Health Center is an essential component to the overall vision of community health and wellbeing at the Q House; and

 

WHEREAS, the City and Hill Health Center have negotiated a 20-year Lease Agreement setting forth the terms and conditions of the use and occupancy of space at the Q House for Hill Health Center; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED, by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that the Lease Agreement be approved together with any other documents that are reasonably required to implement the provisions of the Lease Agreement; and

 

FURTHER, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, that the Mayor be and hereby is authorized to execute, acknowledge and deliver on behalf of the City of New Haven, the Lease Agreement in a form substantially similar to that attached to this Order, and the City-Town Clerk of the City of New Haven be and hereby is authorized and directed to impress and attest the official seal of the City of New Haven on the Lease Agreement and this Order.
