ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS TO READ PRINT AND FILE THE LEGISLATIVE MATTER TITLED “RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE RECENT ACTIONS BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO CHANGE ITS CALENDAR WITHOUT NOTICE OR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.”

WHEREAS: on July 6, 2020, this most honorable Board of Alders received the above-captioned matter and referred it to its Education Committee for a public hearing; and
WHEREAS: on September 2, 2020 the Education Committee conducted an informative public hearing, duly noticed, with members of the board of education, schools administration, and their counsel; and.
WHEREAS: the Education Committee and public schools representatives agreed to work together to ensure that a public meeting is held, possibly around the time of the traditional Columbus Day in October 2020, for all segments of the community to be heard on the issue of modifying the school and city holiday calendars; and
WHEREAS: the Education Committee voted affirmatively that this legislative item be read, printed, and filed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Alders that the above-captioned matter shall be read and printed in the Journal of the Board of Alders and filed in the Office of the City Clerk.
