RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN APPROVING THE PARKS COMMISSION TO ACCEPT A $80,000 DONATION FROM THE SKYE FOUNDATION FOR CRISCUOLO PARK SPLASH PAD.

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven has prioritized both youth and health outcomes; and
WHEREAS, there are numerous community groups engaged in and around Criscuolo park including the Fair Haven Management Team, the Food Policy Council and Board of Education Summer Meals Program, New Haven Board of Education Athletics, multiple other athletic groups, John Martinez School, Cold Spring School, Fair Haven School and the Park is part of the new Fair Haven Community
Walking Trail; and
WHEREAS, the Skye Foundation approached the Parks Department to collaborate on a project for Criscuolo Park; and
WHEREAS, at its December 15, 2017 meeting the Board of Alders approved the acceptance of funding from the Skye Foundation for playground improvements at Criscuolo Park; and
WHEREAS, in Spring/Summer 2018 the new playground installations were completed; and
WHEREAS, as part of continued collaboration with the Skye Foundation work has continued with the approved masterplan concept; and
WHEREAS, the Skye Foundation would like to make an additional contribution to leverage Parks Capital to complete a splashpad installation; and
WHEREAS, the Fair Haven Management Team reviewed the proposed splash pad concept at its October meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Parks Commission reviewed the proposed splash pad and funding commitment at its October meeting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven approve the Parks Commission to accept a $80,000 donation from the Skye Foundation for Criscuolo Park splash pad.
