ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION WITH THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY FOR AND ACCEPTANCE OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT GRANT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $200,000 TO SUPPORT THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT OF PROPERTIES IN THE RIVER STREET MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT PLAN AREA.

WHEREAS, on January 7, 2002, the Board of Aldermen of the City of New Haven approved the River Street Municipal Development Project Plan (the "MDP"); and
WHEREAS, the MDP seeks the environmental remediation and subsequent redevelopment of parcels it so designates; and
WHEREAS, since establishment of the MDP, the City has acquired approximately 24 acres of land of which 13 acres have been remediated and 4 acres did not require remediation; and
WHEREAS, completion of environmental assessment of the remaining 7 acres is required; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and in the public interest that the City of New Haven make an application to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (the "EPA") for two hundred thousand dollars and zero cents ($200,000.00) in order to undertake environmental assessment of City-owned properties in the MDP and to execute a Cooperative Agreement for that purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Alders that:
The filing of an application for EPA financial assistance by the City of New Haven in an amount not to exceed two hundred thousand dollars and zero cents ($200,000.00) is hereby approved, and that the Mayor of the City of New Haven is hereby authorized to execute and file such grant application with the EPA, to provide such additional information as may be required, to execute such other documents as may be required in the application process, to execute a Cooperative Agreement with the EPA for financial assistance (if such an agreement is offered) in the amount of $200,000.00 or such lesser amount (if any) as may be offered by the EPA (which document...
