ORDINANCE AMENDMENT TO APPROPRIATING ORDINANCE # 1 RECLASSIFYING THE POSITION OF DEPUTY DIRECTOR RECREATION TO DEPUTY DIRECTOR ADMINISTRATION AND PLANNING WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS

WHEREAS, Article VIII, Section 3 of the City Charter and Section 2-383 (1) of the Code of General Ordinances requires the approval of the Board of Alders for the transfer of funds within the General Fund Operating Budget, as adopted and Section 2-386 of the Code of General Ordinances requires the approval of the Board of Alders to create a position not included in the budget as adopted, or to reclassify an existing and included position; and,

 

WHEREAS, a new vacancy occurred in July with the retirement of Bill Dixon; and,

 

WHEREAS, the restructuring of the Parks Department contemplated a Deputy to oversee all administrative and planning functions and that title is more versatile than the existing Deputy of Recreation title; and,

 

WHEREAS The Parks Department is seeking approval to reclassify the following position:

 

Current Information                     

110 Deputy Director Recreation 3144, $119,278

 

Revised Information

25001 Deputy Director Admin and Planning 3144, $123,151; and,

 

WHEREAS The Parks Department is seeking a budgetary transfer in the amount of to cover the difference in salary of $3,873 of the position; and,

 

WHEREAS The funds for transfer are available in the Parks Department Administration Other Contractual Services Account.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the New Haven Board of Alders that:

 

Section 1.                      The title of Deputy Director Recreation be reclassified to the title of Deputy Director of Administration and Planning

 

Section 2.                     Budgetary transfer # 163-25-1 is approved transferring funds from Parks Other Contractual Services Amount account to the Parks Salary Account in the amount of $3,873.
