RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE NEW HAVEN PARKS DEPARTMENT TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT’S HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE TO STUDY ADAPTIVE REUSE AND ENERGY RETROFITS FOR FACILITIES AT EDGERTON PARK.

WHEREAS, the New Haven Parks Department owns, manages, and oversees Edgerton Park, a 20-acre property located at 75 Cliff Street in collaboration with the Edgerton Park Conservancy; and

 

WHEREAS, Edgerton Park and its buildings were registered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988; and

 

WHEREAS, the heating and energy systems of the greenhouses and carriage house are falling into disrepair and the buildings need to be assessed for retrofits that meet the standards necessary for historic structures; and

 

WHEREAS, the New Haven Parks Department successfully submitted a survey and planning grant application to the State of Connecticut Economic and Community Development State Historic Preservation Office for planning and survey that was accepted by the Connecticut State Historic Preservation Board.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED that the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven authorizes the Mayor to accept a $20,000 grant award from the State of Connecticut and to allow for the Parks Department to conduct a study to determine energy retrofits and adaptive reuse of facilities at Edgerton Park and to execute all necessary documents including agreements and contracts for the assessment.
