WHEREAS, The Public Library of the City of New Haven is requesting approval of a donation of labor, materials and supplies from CITYArts, a non-profit entity, for the creation of a community public art mural in partnership with the Creative Arts Workship at the Fair Haven Library, a branch of the New Haven Public Library system; and,

WHEREAS, CITYarts mission is to engage youth with professional artists in the creation of public art, including mural and mosaics. Through this creative process, CITYarts empowers, educates and connects youth and children locally and around the world to become active participants in realizing their potential and transforming communities' children and youth with professional artists to create public art, such as mural and mosaics; and,

WHEREAS, The design is created by local artists in collaboration with local New Haven middle school and high school students; and,

WHEREAS, The project focuses on bringing together professional artists and engaging youth through art education and the creative process of creating public murals for neighborhood beautification of which all labor, materials and supplies will be provided by CITYarts with no monetary contribution from the City of New Haven; and

WHEREAS, The public mural will represent the state of Connecticut in the CITYarts
50 States of Peace initiative; and,

WHEREAS, CITYarts has agreed to accept full responsibility for any future mural maintenance or upkeep; and,

WHEREAS, The City of New Haven through the Public Library Building Supervisor will review, inspect and accept all improvements completed at the Fair Haven Library; and,
