ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN APPROVING THE ROLLING STREET CLOSURES ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2026 MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY LOVE MARCH ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 2026

WHEREAS, in its 56th year the Martin Luther King Love March is a long-standing tradition in the city; and
WHEREAS, The Love March, which was started by Shiloh’s late Founder and Pastor, Rev George W. Hampton Sr., has been a positive force in the community; and
WHEREAS, the March has grown in popularity and size over time; and
WHEREAS, the March will begin at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church located at 100 Lawrence Street; and
WHEREAS, the March will begin at 10:00am and step off at approximately 10:45am; and
WHEREAS, the March will proceed from Edwards Street to Whitney Ave to Lawrence Street to State Street and back to Edwards Street with closures throughout the route which will open upon passage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED that the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven hereby authorizes the rolling street closures associated with the 2026 Martin Luther King Day Love March on Thursday, January 15, 2026
