RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN TO ACCEPT A GIFT OF VOTING TABULATION MACHINES AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT REGARDING OWNERSHIP OF AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MACHINES

WHEREAS, on September 16, 2024, the Board of Alders approved a 1-year lease agreement between the City of New Haven (“City”) and the State of Connecticut (“State”) regarding voting tabulation machines for the 2024 Presidential Election; and

 

WHEREAS, the State of Connecticut is gifting to the City of New Haven tabulation machines that it leased to the City for the 2024 presidential election; and

 

WHEREAS, such a gift requires the approval of the Board of Alders; and

 

WHEREAS, the State requires that the City agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of an agreement that the State reached with tabulation machine provider Election Systems & Software, LLC, regarding the service, maintenance, and support of the machines, as a condition of the gift of these machines; and

 

WHEREAS, the Registrars are grateful to have been selected by the State for early use of these machines during the 2024 presidential election.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven approves of the gift of the machines and hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City of New Haven to execute all documents necessary to enter into an Agreement with the State of Connecticut to be bound by the terms and conditions of the State’s agreement with Election Systems & Software, LLC.
