ORDINANCE AMENDMENT OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS TO APPROPRIATING ORDINANCE # 1 RECLASSIFYING POSITION 340 SUPERVISING LIBRARIAN TO TECHNICAL SERVICES SUPERVISING LIBRARIAN.

WHEREAS, Article VIII, Section 3 of the City Charter and Section 2-383 (1) of the Code of General Ordinances require the approval of the Board of Alders to create a position not included in the budget as adopted, or to reclassify an existing and included position; and
WHEREAS, a vacancy in the Supervising Librarian position will occur in August 2026 with the retirement of the existing employee after twenty eight years of service on the position at the library; and
WHEREAS, the title reclassification is necessary because the existing job description has been updated to directly align with the unique responsibilities of this specific role which supports data and infrastructure operations and current technical processing of physical and digital library collection materials; and
WHEREAS, the Public Library is seeking a neutral, no-cost budgetary adjustment permitting the revision of the position title; and
WHEREAS, the Public Library is seeking approval to reclassify the position title of the following position:

General Funds, position 340, Supervising Librarian, Rank 9, Step 7, salary: $95,434
Revised Information:
General Funds, position 340, Technical Services Supervising Librarian, Rank 9, Step 7, salary: $95,434
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that:
Section 1. The title of Supervising Librarian is hereby reclassified as the Technical Services Supervising Librarian under the Public Library General Funds budget.
