ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT A GRANT FROM THE CITIES FOR FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT FUND (CFEF) IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000) OVER A TWO-YEAR PERIOD TO SUPPORT THE FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT CENTER’S LEGACY PLANNING SERVICES.

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven, through its Financial Empowerment Center (FEC), provides residents with free, professional, one-on-one financial counseling to increase savings, reduce debt, legacy planning, and improve overall financial stability; and

 

WHEREAS, the Financial Empowerment Center seeks to expand its scope of services to include Legacy Planning, a program designed to help residents build intergenerational wealth through estate preparation, beneficiary planning, and long-term financial education; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFEF) offers grant funding to support innovative financial capability initiatives across the state, and has made available a grant opportunity in the amount of $50,000 over a two-year period to assist with the implementation and delivery of Legacy Planning services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Legacy Planning service is scheduled to begin providing support to New Haven residents on October 28, 2025, expanding the City’s financial empowerment efforts and advancing economic equity; and

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED that the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven authorizes the Mayor, on behalf of the City, to accept the grant mentioned herein from the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund; and

 

BE IT FURTHER ORDERED that the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven authorizes the Mayor to execute any and all necessary documents, agreements, and amendments to effectuate the purposes of this Order.
