WHEREAS, the City of New Haven (the "City") owns the Ralph Walker Ice Rink (the "Ice Rink") and recently completed a renovation which has transformed the Ice Rink into a best-in-class class community resource;
WHEREAS, Albertus Magnus College ("Albertus") is a private liberal arts college located in the Prospect Hill and Newhallville neighborhoods of New Haven;
WHEREAS, the City and Albertus entered into an agreement (#A18-1134) to support the renovation of the Ice Rink, extend community engagement as regards use of the Ice Rink and cooperate in establishing the Ice Rink as the home of the Albertus collegiate hockey teams in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in said agreement (the "Agreement");
WHEREAS, Albertus was recently awarded grant funds ("Grant Funds") via the State of Connecticut Community Investment Fund, as administered through the Department of Economic and Community Development of the State of Connecticut ("DECD") which will enable Albertus to develop support spaces for the Albertus women's hockey team at the Ice Rink together with other improvements, which improvements will be owned by the City;
WHEREAS, in accordance with a recent order of the Board of Alders (LM-2024-0456) the City and Albertus have agreed to extend the term of the Agreement for the benefit of both the Albertus men's and women's hockey programs and to provide for additional community programming, all as facilitated by the use of the Grant Funds by Albertus in improving the Ice Rink; and
