ORDER OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS DESIGNATING THE CORNER OF CHAPEL STREET AND CHURCH STREET AS "ANNE D. HINES ST." AND DESIGNATING THE CORNER OF ELM STREET AND CHURCH STREET AS "HUGH F. KEEFE BLVD." FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 15, 2026, IN CONNECTION WITH THE GREATER NEW HAVEN ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE.

WHEREAS, the Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 1:30 P.M. in the City of New Haven; and
WHEREAS, as part of the Parade's long-standing tradition, the City ceremonially renames certain street corners for the day in memory of deceased individuals who made significant and positive contributions to the Greater New Haven Irish Community; and
WHEREAS, Anne D. Hines was born in Edinburgh, spent meaningful years in Scotland and Ireland, and came to the United States in 1976, building a life rooted in faith, family, and service to the Irish community; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Hines served with dedication through organizations including Kid U Not, Orchard House, St. Mary's Ladies Guild, the Irish American Community Center, the New Haven Gaelic Football & Hurling Club, and the Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, and was honored as Irish Woman of the Year (2006) and as a past President of the New Haven Gaelic Football & Hurling Club; and
WHEREAS, Hugh F. Keefe, Esq. was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, to Irish immigrant parents, and became the first in his family to graduate from college and attend law school, later becoming one of Connecticut's most respected and formidable trial attorneys; and
WHEREAS, Attorney Keefe devoted his career from 1967 until his death to the firm of Lynch, Traub Keefe & Errante, earning deep respect for his devotion to community, working people, and the fair administration of justice; and
WHEREAS, the Parade Committee has requested these ceremonial designations as a fitting tribute to the lives, legacy, and contributions of Anne D. Hines and Hugh F. Keefe, Esq.
