ORDER OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS DESIGNATING THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF CONGRESS AVENUE AND WEST STREET AS "ANNIE LOUIS BOYD CORNER" IN PERPETUITY FOR HER LOVE, COMMITMENT, GREAT CONTRIBUTIONS, AND SERVICE TO PEOPLE IN THE HILL NEIGHBORHOOD.

WHEREAS, Ms. Annie Louis Boyd is highly respected for her commitment to open and honest communication, as well as her unwavering dedication to serving her community in various capacities;
WHEREAS, she has made significant strides since her time as a member of the Black Panthers and has established a legacy in the City of New Haven;
WHEREAS, over the years, she has demonstrated ongoing commitment to community services and has made significant contributions as the former chair of Project MORE, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reintegrating previously incarcerated individuals;
WHEREAS, in 2015, she was appointed to the Community and Police Relations Task Force by former Mayor Tony Harp;
WHEREAS, additionally, she contributed her service to various committees, including the New Haven Democratic Town Committee, the Board of the Community Action Agency, the Hill Development Corporation, and the Hill North Management Team;
WHEREAS, the dedication to community service has been instilled in her children and extended family members, all of whom have committed themselves to serving various communities and contributing to the growth and development of the Hill Neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, her compassionate nature makes her a source of joy, laughter, peace, and solutions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED by the New Haven Board of Alders that in honor of her many contributions and excellent services to the Hill neighborhood and citywide, Northwest Corner of Congress Avenue and West Street as "Annie Louis Boyd Corner" in perpetuity, making her legacy in New Haven stand as an official and permanent reminder of integrity, love, generosity, and dignity.
