RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN TO ACCEPT FUNDS FROM THE CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,611.44 TO CONDUCT FIELD SOBRIETY CHECKS AND DUI CHECKPOINTS THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN

WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Safety Program has made available funds to the State of Connecticut to reduce accidents that occur due to driving under the influence of alcohol and other controlled substances; and,

 

WHEREAS, the State of Connecticut, through the Department of Transportation has made these funds available to cities throughout the state; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven is eligible to apply for reimbursement of 100% of police overtime costs for expanded DUI sobriety checkpoints.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven supports efforts to improve public safety through enforcement of DUI laws; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven authorizes the Mayor of the City of New Haven accept funds offered by the Connecticut Department of Transportation in an amount not to exceed $15,611.44.
