ORDINANCE AMENDMENT OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS TO APPROPRIATING ORDINANCE NO. 1 FOR FY2026-27, PURSUANT TO ARTICLE VIII OF THE CITY CHARTER AND SECTIONS 2-385 TO 2-389 OF THE CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES APPROVING TRANSFER NO. 144-27-10 TRANSFERRING FUNDS FROM CONTRACTUAL RESERVE ACCOUNT 14071010-50110 TO BOARD OF EDUCATION FACILITIES OPERATIONS ACCOUNT 19047900-50110, 50118, 50112, 50123, 50136

WHEREAS, Article VIII of the City Charter and Sections 2-385 through 2-389 of the Code of General Ordinances require the approval of the New Haven Board of Alders for transfers of funds within the General Fund budget; and

 

WHEREAS, to effectively manage and support the upkeep of the City of New Haven’s 39 school buildings, the City of New Haven seeks to provide additional staffing capacity; and

 

WHEREAS, Transfer Number 144-27-10 has been prepared to provide New Haven Public Schools with funding for additional full-time and part-time staff in the areas of property management, groundskeeping, and trades; and

 

WHEREAS, this additional staffing capacity will support stronger accountability and sustainable maintenance practices for New Haven Public Schools.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the New Haven Board of Alders that Transfer Number 144-27-10 is hereby approved to provide additional staffing capacity for the maintenance and upkeep of New Haven Public Schools, its grounds, and school buildings for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2026-2027; and

 

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the New Haven Board of Alders that the Mayor, Controller, and/or Budget Director is hereby empowered to carry out any additional instruments necessary to effectuate the purposes of Transfer Number 144-27-10.
