RESOLUTION OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A BEST PRACTICES IN TOBACCO CONTROL PROGRAMS GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,800,000 FROM THE CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH FOR THE PERIOD OF DECEMBER 1, 2025 TO NOVEMBER 30, 2028 AND TO EXECUTE, ACKNOWLEDGE, IMPLEMENT AND DELIVER ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS AS MAY BE CONSIDERED NECESSARY OR APPROPRIATE WITH RESPECT THERETO.

WHEREAS, the New Haven Health Department recognizes the importance of reducing the rate of tobacco use in New Haven and the greater New Haven area; and,

 

WHEREAS, the New Haven Health Department will offer tobacco cessation programs and conduct educational activities and engage in policy change to reduce residents’ exposure to secondhand smoke; and,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that the Mayor, on behalf of the City, is authorized to apply for and accept a Best Practices in Tobacco Control; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is authorized to execute said application for funding for an amount of about $1,800,000 and to execute any revisions, amendments or modifications to said contract.
