ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT UP TO $1,893,528 FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) PORT SECURITY GRANT FFY26 PROGRAM FOR A NEW ALL HAZARDS MARINE UNIT AND TO ACCEPT, EXECUTE AND IF NECESSARY, MODIFY ALL RELATED DOCUMENTS, CONTRACTS, AND SUCH INSTRUMENTS AS DEEMED NECESSARY.

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven, through its public safety departments, is responsible for public safety and security in the City of New Haven including the port area; and
WHEREAS, the FEMA Port Security Grant Program offers funds to enhance the security and safety of the Port of New Haven; and
WHEREAS, the funds and resources available from the FEMA Port Security Grant Program may be used to develop physical security projects; and
WHEREAS, after careful consideration the City prioritized projects to provide a new Marine 1 Vessel, and replacement and maintenance of cameras around the Port area,
WHEREAS, a local match of 25% is required in the amount of $473,382 which is available and will be satisfied by in kind employee time, and previously allocated capital budget and annual general fund camera maintenance funding.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that it hereby authorizes the Mayor of the City of New Haven to apply for and accept up to $1,701,213 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Port Security Grant FFY26 Program for a new all hazards marine unit and to accept, execute and if necessary, modify all related documents, contracts, and such instruments as deemed necessary
