ORDINANCE AMENDMENT OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS TO APPROPRIATING ORDINANCE # 1 RECLASSIFYING THE POSITION OF LIBRARY TECHNOLOGY SUPERVISOR, POSITION NO. 23001, WITHIN THE PUBLIC LIBRARY BUDGET FROM THE SPECIAL FUNDS BUDGET TO THE GENERAL FUND BUDGET AND RECLASSIFYING THE SUPERVISING LIBRARIAN, POSITION NO. 2010, FROM THE GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE SPECIAL FUND BUDGET

WHEREAS, Article VIII, Section 3 of the City Charter and Section 2-383 (1) of the Code of General Ordinances require the approval of the Board of Alders for the transfer of funds within the General Fund Operating Budget, as adopted, and Section 2-386 of the Code of General Ordinances requires the approval of the Board of Alders to create a position not included in the budget as adopted, or to reclassify an existing and included position; and

WHEREAS, a vacancy in the Supervising Librarian position occurred in August 2025 with the promotion of Jennifer Velez and a vacancy in the Library Supervisor position occurred in September 2025 with the departure of an employee; and

WHEREAS, these budget reclassifications will support the long-term sustainability of the Library's technology infrastructure and provide necessary support of public technology resources across all five public library locations; and

WHEREAS, the Public Library is seeking approval to reclassify the funding sources of the following positions:

General Funds, position no. 2010, Supervising Librarian, Rank 9, Step 4, salary: $82,027
Special Funds, position no. 23001, Library Technology Supervisor, Rank 10, Step 2, salary: $82,027

Revised Information:
