ORDER OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A MULTIYEAR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING STATION SITE HOST AGREEMENT WITH VOLTPOST, INC.

WHEREAS, in 2019, the City of New Haven formally recognized the urgency of the climate crisis and Ordered to act by adopting a Climate Emergency Order; and
WHEREAS, the City of New Haven is committed to expanding affordable access to transportation options which improve air quality and lower the pollution that causes climate change; and
WHEREAS, electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles can reduce or eliminate tailpipe emissions for travel within the City of New Haven; and
WHEREAS, the increasing availability of used and new models of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles makes them increasingly affordable; and
WHEREAS, access to charging remains a hurdle for residents who might be interested in purchasing a plug-in vehicle but lack off-street parking; and
WHEREAS with the goal of providing widespread and affordable charging for electric vehicles, Public Utility Regulatory Authority (PURA) selected Voltpost for grant funding through its Innovative Energy Solutions program; and
WHEREAS, with said grant funding Voltpost will install, own, and maintain electric vehicle chargers at no cost to the City of New Haven; and
WHEREAS, Voltpost has agreed to provide a 5% (five percent) revenue share to the City of New Haven for charging stations installed with PURA funding; and
WHEREAS, the City and Voltpost have identified suitable locations for electric vehicle charging at City-owned facilities and spaces within the public right-of-way.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that the Mayor is authorized and empowered to enter into a multi-year site owner agreement with VoltPost, Inc. for City-owned facilities or locations within the public right-of-way for the installation of electric vehicle chargers; and
