ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ENTER INTO A LONG-TERM LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH THE NEW HAVEN PARKING AUTHORITY FOR THE UNDER AIR RIGHTS GARAGE PARKING FACILITY.

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven (the “City”) is the owner in fee simple of a certain piece or parcel of l  situated in the City of New Haven, County of New Haven and State of Connecticut and formerly a portion of the highway known as Route 34 (and now known as the Air Rights Garage property) upon which the New Haven Parking Authority (the “NHPA”) currently operates a parking garage (the "Under Air Rights Garage") pursuant to a one-year license agreement, together with NHPA with other parking lots within the City (the “Short Term Agreement”) which Short Term Agreement expires as of June 30, 2025; 

 

WHEREAS, in view of the size of the Under Air Rights Garage and its importance in serving the medical and research community located nearby, the City and NHPA believe that a more long-term arrangement is desirable with respect thereto; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Alders agrees that the execution and delivery of a license agreement (the “License Agreement”) substantively in the form attached hereto is in the best interests of the City.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that the License Agreement is hereby approved and that the Mayor of the City of New Haven is authorized to execute and deliver the License Agreement on behalf of the City; and is further authorized to execute and deliver such other documentation as may be necessary in order to carry out the purposes and intent of this Order.
