RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND TO ACCEPT AN AWARD FROM THE FEMA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PERFORMANCE GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $68,659.50 FOR FFY 2025 AND TO ACCEPT, EXECUTE AND IF NECESSARY, MODIFY ALL RELATED DOCUMENTS, CONTRACTS, AND SUCH INSTRUMENTS AS DEEMED NECESSARY.

WHEREAS, the FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grant Program provides state, local, tribal, and territorial emergency management agencies with resources required for implementation of the National Preparedness System and works toward the National Preparedness Goal of a secure and resilient nation; and

WHEREAS, the FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grant Program allows costs to support efforts to build and sustain core capabilities across the prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery mission areas; and

WHEREAS, this funding provides framework and reimbursement for activities necessary for the preparedness, prevention, response, and recovery missions required for the City Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security; and

WHEREAS, The FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grant Program offers funds and other resources for multi-coordination of Emergency Management Operations for the City of New Haven; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven supports the coordination with external stakeholders, public safety agencies; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Alders recognizes that those functions are responsible to ensure unified command across all disciplines during all hazards; planning response and recovery.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven hereby authorize the Mayor of the City of New Haven to accept the award, and to sign, execute and if necessary, modify all related documents, contracts, and such instruments as needed by the FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grant Program.
