RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, BUDGET DIRECTOR, OR CONTROLLER OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN, TO ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT, SECRETARY OF STATE OFFICE, PURSUANT TO ?467 OF PUBLIC ACT 26-68, IN THE AMOUNT OF $60,512.54 FOR COSTS RELATED TO IMPLEMENTING AND CONDUCTING EARLY VOTING FOR THE 2026 ELECTIONS.

WHEREAS, pursuant to ?467 of Public Act 26-68, the Connecticut Secretary of the State will provide a grant in the amount of at least $5,000 to each municipality for costs related to implementing and conducting early voting; and

WHEREAS, additional funds are allocated to municipalities based on a formula that revolves around four criteria: early votes cast in 2024, Same-Day Registration votes cast in 2022 and 2024, registered voters who did not vote in 2022 and 2024, and likely eligible but unregistered voters in 2026; and

WHEREAS, The Secretary of the State will distribute the grants as soon as possible, contingent on towns detailing their intended use of the funds and returning a signed agreement; and

WHEREAS, by accepting funds, the City of New Haven agrees that it will comply with applicable public auditing requirements, in accordance with the provisions of Sections 7-394a and 7-396a of the Connecticut General Statutes; and

WHEREAS, by accepting funds, the City agrees that it is compliant with all applicable state and federal non-discrimination laws; and

WHEREAS, cities and towns must report expenditures within 30 days of fully expending funds, and no later than June 30, 2027; and

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven will accept the funds from the Secretary of State, CT to ensure the Registrar of Voters Office has the resources for cost related to implementing and conducting early voting.
