ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS  DIRECTING THE CITY TO DELAY IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SALON AND BARBERSHOP FEES UNTIL THE IMPACT OF SUCH FEES CAN BE DETERMINED.

WHEREAS: the City of New Haven increased the fees for Inspections, Licensing and Applications for Salon, Tattoo, and Body Care facilities; and

WHEREAS: multiple owners and operators reached out to members of the Board of Alders expressing that the increase in fees is creating hardship for them; and

WHEREAS: in order to examine the impact and effects  and consider any changes needed to assist these small businesses, a pause on the fees until such time as we can investigate and take appropriate action is appropriate; and

WHEREAS: the pause is needed immediately due to the May 1^st date for the fees to take effect;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDERED BY THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS that the city delay implementation of the salon and barbershop fees until the impact of such fees can be determined and any needed changes are implemented.
