ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN APPROVING THE CLOSURE OF ORANGE STREET BETWEEN COURT STREET AND CHAPEL STREET AND CHURCH STREET BETWEEN CHAPEL STREET AND ELM STREET ON SUNDAY JULY 19TH, 2026

WHEREAS, the World Cup Final is scheduled at 3:00PM on July 19th, 2026; and
WHEREAS, residents are anticipated to congregate at Pitkin Plaza to view World Cup matches and it is possible for crowds to arrive early and stay late; and
WHEREAS, the closure of Orange Street between Center Street and Chapel Street shall ensure pedestrian safety and will be scheduled from 8am to 7pm; and
WHEREAS, if crowds are anticipated to grow further the space may not be large enough for the event and would therefore be moved to Church Street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN that the closure of Orange Street between Court Street and Chapel Street and Church Street between Chapel and Elm Street on Sunday July 19th, 2026 is hereby approved.
