RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS OF THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT UP TO $124,796 FROM THE FEMA PORT SECURITY GRANT PROGRAM AND ACCEPT, EXECUTE, AND IF NECESSARY, MODIFY ALL RELATED DOCUMENTS, CONTRACTS, AND SUCH INSTRUMENTS AS DEEMED NECESSARY.

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven through its public safety departments are responsible for public safety and security in the City of New Haven; including the Port area;

 

WHEREAS, the FEMA Port Security Grant Program offers funds to enhance the security and safety of the Port of New Haven; 

 

WHEREAS, the funds and resources available from the FEMA Port Security Grant Program may be used to develop physical security projects; 

 

WHEREAS, after careful consideration the city prioritized projects to replace and maintain cameras around the Port area, and replacement of aging portable Fire Department radios; and

 

WHEREAS, a local match of 25% is required in the amount up to $31,199 and will be satisfied by in kind employee time and previously allocated capital budget and rolling stock.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven authorizes the mayor to apply for and accept up to $124,796 from the FEMA Port Security Grant Program and accept, execute, and if necessary, modify all related documents, contracts, and such instruments as deemed necessary.
