WHEREAS, Yale University Properties shall host the 9^th Annual New Haven Chalk Art Festival on Saturday. October 3, 2026; and

WHEREAS, the rain date of the New Haven Chalk Art Festival is Sunday, October 4, 2026; and

WHEREAS, the Chalk Art Festival will be held from the hours of 12:00PM to 4:00PM; and

WHEREAS, the City of New Haven recognizes that the Chalk Art Festival has continued to grow annually with increased artist participation; and

WHEREAS, to ensure pedestrian access and safety the event shall extend past the Broadway Island and Broadway Civil Monument Park onto a portion of Elm Street; and

WHEREAS, the closure of Elm Street between Park Street and Broadway shall begin at 7am and last until 7pm to accommodate event setup and cleanup.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Alders of the City of New Haven that the closure of Elm Street between Park Street and Broadway on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 is hereby approved; and

BE IT FURTHER ORDERED that approval is hereby granted for the alternative rain date of Sunday, October 4^th, 2026.
