TITLE
ORDER OF THE BOARD OF ALDERS CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE MAYORS PLAN TO ELIMINATE ADVANCE LIFE SUPPORT SERVICES (PARAMEDIC SERVICES) FROM THE NEW HAVEN FIRE DEPARTMENT.
BODY
WHEREAS: A request was made by Kenneth Oliver and Boise Kimber to hold a hearing on the Mayor’s plan to eliminate advance life support services (paramedic services) from the New Haven Fire Department; and
WHEREAS: it is their position that this service being eliminated would be detrimental to the Citizens / Residents of New Haven of all Nationalities, extremely detrimental to the African-American and the Hispanic Communities across this City and will affect the Visitors, College Students, and City Workers who will be deprived of this service that has been supplied by the Fire Department since 1976; and
WHEREAS: the hearing was requested to allow the Residents and their Families, and Members of the Public that have benefited by this Advance Life Service to Speak on the adverse effects of this service being eliminated; and
WHEREAS : the hearing was requested to also allow those that are knowledgeable of the Emergency Medical Services to explain the System and how it works as the requesters believe that decisions have been made by those who have very limited knowledge of how the Emergency Medical System in the State of Connecticut works.
NOW THERE BE IT ORDERED that a hearing be held on the mayor’s plan to eliminate Advance Life Support Services (Paramedic Services) from the New Haven Fire Department.
