ORDER OF THE NEW HAVEN BOARD OF ALDERS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (DEEP) FOR LIVING SHORELINE RESILIENCY PROJECTS AT EAST SHORE PARK AND LONG WHARF PARK.

Whereas, the State of Connecticut Bond Commission met and authorized State Bond Funding for coastal stewardship and resiliency July 25, 2018; and
Whereas, the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) will administer the funds; and
Whereas, Anthropogenic Climate Change is an extremely threat to New Haven and communities all over the world; and
Whereas, Living Shorelines and other constructed nature-based resiliency systems provide cost-effective and adaptable protection and mitigation of some of the effects of climate change and provide shoreline protection.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor is authorized to apply for and accept funding from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) and to sign any associated agreements with the state and contractors, subsequent amendments and other documents, any of which may include indemnification provisions and which may have a term of longer than one year, that the Mayor deems necessary or desirable regarding Living Shoreline Resiliency projects and associated infrastructure at East Shore Park and Long Wharf Park.
